In Extinction, mankind faces a mysterious and deadly territory called Zone X. After its inexplicable appearance a few years ago, Zone X continuously increased its area, destroying all villages and military bases on its way, and if people did not find a way to stop enlargement and, it will begin to devour cities and, ultimately, the world. The hope of salvation falls on the shoulders of Lina (Natalie Portman), a biologist part of a team of five female scientists who head to an incredibly dangerous and risky mission in Zone H. Lina risks her own life by joining the seemingly suicidal expedition. She also has a personal motive to embark on this adventure – it will give an answer what happened to the man and who appears outrageously ill after disappearing without a year earlier in Zone X during a secret military mission .
Upon entering Zone X, the five women were surprised to discover that the “infected” territories were transformed into a beautiful and magical forest. Very soon, however, they understand that the appearance lies behind and behind the seeming beauty of Zone X is a real danger. The bodies and thoughts of scientists are gradually changing under the influence of Zone X, and they have to find out what is going on before it’s too late.
Unprepared for the muddling effect of Zone X, scientists begin to turn to each other at a time when they most need to stay together. But how to trust when they can not even believe their own thoughts …
